Hallé
The Hallé is Britain’s oldest symphony orchestra, but at the end of the last century it was dangerously close to closure. Thanks in part to the generosity of Manchester’s own citizens, it was brought back from the brink of disaster and we were commissioned to develop a new brand that would take it forward into the new millennium.
We carried out an initial perception study with players, promoters, critics and members of the public. Then, working with the executive team and new musical director, we created a brand strategy that would re-position the orchestra as both modern and accessible, while retaining its long held and proud traditions.
We defined the creative brief and helped in the selection process of the agency. We created a new visual identity and a fresh tone of voice that has redefined the Orchestra on both a national and international stage, and re-established it at the heart of Manchester’s cultural life.
Apart from an integrated range of marketing materials which helped to articulate more clearly the Hallé’s musical offer, the new brand also provided a distinctive image for the orchestra’s recently launched CD label.
